Hi

Well I think it's time I relised and admit I might not make the fest!

Plus why should I really! When all I do is try to organise things so other people can have a good time! I then get slamed by some people for being over bearing, told I am out of order by trying to "remove things because its not going the way I want" etc. When all I was asking for people to do, what was asked, and not go on one off our usual dozen or so differnat threads.
Even when I do an article about cars I even get it in the neck, and then today PH remove my post (Yes I know they say they will reinstate it) about try to raise donations for the memory of a fellow P/header and wedger!

All this with the problems with my legs. The last opp was designed to force the bones together by me standing, which is pretty hard to do concidering that, half my lower muscles have gone! Then if this doesn't work it will mean I will proberly still lose my legs! I am trying as hard as I can to stand and walk but if I can't improve I will not make it. Plus the feelling towards me from some people makes me want to chuck it all in at times! Because is it worth it! All I am doing is try my best to make things run well and some people just seam to want to stick the oare in to upset things!
With the possability of me not getting to the fest I again ask for volunteers, plus we need good items for the Charity raffle so we can raise some good money for Charity! Opps should not have said that as this post will get removed as well!

Hi Andy..It would be a real shame if you cant make it, Personally im not sure if we would have a fest if you hadnt organised it!..It is hard to please people and you can only please some people some of the time..When it comes to the crunch every one ends up enjoying themselves which must be very satisfying for you..The injuries to your legs sounds horrendous and i can only wish that you can win over and are able to function as near to normal again..It must be taking its toll on you mentally and physically.
I will help out as much as i can at the fest and im sure there wont be a shortage of volunteers..Also im looking at some bits and pieces for the raffle, Its not massively expensive but it all helps..Also karl from auto valet will contribute again..Dont worry about it too much..Wishing you well..Ziga

Stick at it Andy, never give up hope on anything. The main thing is you have your health to consider and getting back on your feet should be you biggest motivation and concern.

If there is anything i can do to assist just let me know, you have my email.

Well Andy join the long list of Wedgers who have tried to do good things for the benefit of others Wedgers at Wedgefest. I wont name them but they know who they are, people who have put in a massive effort so others can have a good time, people who spend a huge amount of time sorting out the little things that make the difference. Some people do good things others just critcise everything and do fk all. The history of Wedgefest show that organizers usually manage to stick around for two years and then they fade away having been ground down by the constant battle with the dheads that have no idea what it takes to run such an event, it usually starts with the venue then the date and runs right through to the cost of a pint. You cant please all the people all the time. When I came back home from Wedgefest 08 I put my beloved 450 up for sale and vowed I would do no more, I retired from Wedgering, I could not stand the constant aggravation caused by just a few dheads who ruin it for all the others.

Good luck with your medical problems, severe as they may be, they will be easier to overcome than the problems you are having on this forum, and when you have really had enough you will find there is life after Wedgering and its sweet.

Andy, the main thing in anyones life is their health(I've been there). I'm sure no one understands how it feels for you to go through such trauma and still put yourself up for organising the fest. I for one will give you a clap
I am sure everyone wishes you the very best in your slow and probably painful recovery.

As for giving up on things, thats the wrong thing to do, as said many times in the past, you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. So far you have done a sterling job of getting things done, albeit in your own way, but getting it done none the less.
Organising any group gathering is never going to win a popularity contest, someones toes will nearly always be stamped on.

As for posting on PH,(the dig at me in your post) it seems you think it's ok to jump on people when you don't agree with them, but spit the dummy out when someone does it to you.

Andy.

You are a fighter and a survivor and you can do it. You have a proven track record with the BBWF as you did an amazing job last year, I know, because I was there. As for your health, it is very hard, but you will get there. We are all praying for you, and hope, that somehow, you will make it to the BBWF. Wedgers need you there. All the best.

As you well know volunteering for anything is a thankless task, but remember that the few moaners never did anything and voice their opinions from the comfort of their keyboard are far outweighed by those who appreciate everything you're doing.

I know from personal experience (but thankfully never had to cope with the dreadful injuries you've suffered) that there are days when you just want to throw the towel in and say fk 'em but just keep positive and do what YOU want to do and you'll come through.

All the best with your recovery and remember your health is more important than anything else.

Andy, from the Rusty Nailers, look bud we know what it's like running an event and your right you always have folk that do not like everything that's been orginised, if you can keep 75%+ of the folk happy at the event then that's all good so carry on with the good work.
Most of all is to get you walking again because i know how you would love to kick our scottish butt's.
PS -- Medicine - take 1 rusty a day until your better, reaches parts that other's cant.

Good luck - The Nailers.

Andy, let's keep positive for the legs and ongoing medical recovery.

As far as BBWF12 goes that is unstoppable now, and a great credit to your organisational powers getting the sponsorship and plugging away at traders, (plus I won't forget Topton for his initial work.)

I'm sure we can count on a few fellow wedgers on the day to pull together on the physical side and make it a success, we already have a fair amount of pledges on the BBWF12 Help thread. If you can't make it yourself it will obviously be a blow to all, but I have some plans in hand to make sure you can attend in one way or other. Watch this space.

P.S. While BBWF has been at Ettington we have all had a whinge about the ale prices, me included. But when I have organised it or helped, and I have heard someone whinge about the price of a pint, I know I've done a good job, 'cos they ain't whining about something else ;^)

Andy i can only say again, that someone has to be bothered to organise things otherwise nothing happens, i for one judge things by did i have a good time? dont expect things to be perfect and critising people is the easiest thing in the world, so if people think they can do a better job then get involved or keep quiet. But as others have said your health is more important than anything else so keep your chin up and keep battling on.

Don't worry about the tts and the comment about your car article Andy. Put your life into perspective and concentrate on getting fit again so you can enjoy what you have worked for. As for the fest? I'm sure it will take care of itself as there's enough bods on here that want to see it happen to make it happen.

Get well soon...

Andy,

Firstly - your health is paramount and comes first. No one here should think any less of you if you had to pull out at any point.

BBWF is a bit like a company - no one owns it and it has a life of its own once created. Hopefully it will go on for a long time.

As many have discovered when doing the organising job - its impossible to keep everyone happy all the time. Just steering the event to keep the majority happy is a major task and you will get flack for the others for not making it right for them. Sadly thick skin is needed and sure it hurts not to be able to make everyone happy.

Just my two penn`orth Mr T. concentrate on what`s important, and you will know what that is,do not let posts on the web cause you to lose sleep, there are more people that wish you well than you can count, more people who are thankful for the things you have organised than you realise, there will always be people that could have done it bigger, better, and for less, that is part of the wonder of the web,hey even I sound plausible on the web,so go get better and remember wisdom does not always come with age,in my case age showed up on it`s own. smile

Andy getting back to health is the key here first and upmost. I had major leg trauma when a 4 ton pipe crushed me at work in 2006. It took ages to heal and even longer to learn to walk again but i never gave up fighting, thats what you need to do never give up. Take the punches and keep your chin up.
