Does anyone know this GT3?
Discussion
Not known to me but you would need to change the wheels (and any other non-standard parts) before adding an OPC warranty.
If something's cheaper than the competition it's usually for a reason... Or it's a bargain. I'd go check it out. Be sure to get a rev range readout to ensure the engine hasn't been over-revved.
If you don't go for it there's a lovely, well cared for car at 911 Virgin (mine

Good luck whatever you choose; they're awesome cars.

seems this is the new 911V way to warranty dodge, what's the cost to sell this way, a lot of cars seems to be SOR now to get over the Porsche rulling. If something's cheaper than the competition it's usually for a reason... I don't get 911V, SOR, Bug price, do they offer any back up these days (bar the 2k for 3 months warranty !!!)?
Be interesting to see if Jack got his GT3 fixed after only having it 20 days from 911V
you have RSJ going all out with warranty and 911V going the other way selling bug price or SOR cars.
Bug price is the killer to me and cannot still see how it's legal, I know I always bring it up and every one loves 911V but it's not legal ffs.
to quote the GOV site
"Some car traders try to use disclaimers such as 'sold as seen', 'trade sale only' or 'Bug price' to restrict your rights. This is against the law and you can report any trader that does this to the Citizens Advice consumer service."
ok so I added in Bug price but clearly that's how it's punted as sold as seen , wash your hands of any fault sale !!!!

Do they?I think the Pistonheads name and shame policy means you only ever hear praise on this forum; anything else gets deleted quite quickly (a mere whiff of HWM and zap goes the thread
). This isn't directed solely at 911 Virgin because all advertisers and dealers are treated the same. mrdemon said:

If a car has the benefit of a main dealer warranty then we will do whatever we can within the terms of that policy to maintain it and pass it on to the next owner. It also means we can reflect the value of the warranty in what the owner sees back in their pocket. Were it your car I feel sure you would want us to do that for you.
We have been operating our pricing system successfully for well over 10 years now without ever being taken to court or indeed a single solicitor's letter winging its way to us. I am proud of that, I hope it shows we self police ourselves and do the right thing when things go wrong.
I am not sure where you get the £2k for 3 months warranty. We offer a number of options to buyers as different people want different levels of hand holding but even at our bug price there is a safety net in place should something go badly wrong. The difference is we don't ask customers to pay up front and keep the money when nothing goes wrong. We are incredibly fussy about what ends up being offered for sale.
We have, for probably 10 years or more offered a £400 per year warranty to cover most people's worst case scenario fears - engine or gearbox failure (there are some additional items covered but it is essentially there for engine and gearbox). I noticed Joel's post and thought to comment but it seemed unprofessional to do so. For the record scored bores are covered. There was an article outlining the various cover provided by dealers in the May 2012 issue of GT Purely Porsche (page 62). Have a read.
With our £400 warranty there is no excess, no contribution to labour cost, no contribution to parts, we cover the lot. In house out of our own pocket just like we have for the past 10 years or more. The only time a contribution is required is when a brand spanking new engine from Porsche is supplied (complete with all ancillaries). In this instance we ask for a £3,000 betterment contribution and the owner gets their 2 year warranty from Porsche. It is also worth pointing out that because we don't have our own service workshop we are much more amicable to any work being carried out local to the new owner. We do reserve the right to ask for cars to come back to us but when that happens we will usually go and collect the car / arrange a loan vehicle.
In terms of the legality of what we do we are well aware of the law. Many many years ago I invited trading standards over to chat over the way we work to make sure we weren't doing anything wrong. I was surprised at how limited consumer protection was. We aim to exceed our legal obligations which to be honest most decent dealers should do comfortably because consumer protection on second hand cars isn't as all embracing as you might think or hope.
We operate the way we do to benefit customers and provide an open service. It seems to work really well and I can't think of a customer who has ever complained to us about our pricing structure, we have sold thousands of Porsches in that time. In fact clearly it hasn't put you off considering purchasing from us in the past:

That GT3 looks a great car, was thinking about buying it myself.
Enjoy it.
Ultimately I think there are two issues. Your not understanding how our pricing scheme works, and our failure to "big up" our warranty scheme.Enjoy it.
All the best

They offer a 12 month warranty for £400, about a third of what you'd pay for a years OPC warranty. This was amazingly comprehensive when we had the C2 - they kept to their word on everything. The 3 month warranty they offer on the 'trade price' isn't a normal warranty, they will replace even wear and tear parts if they let go in this period.I don't get 911V, SOR, Bug price, do they offer any back up these days (bar the 2k for 3 months warranty !!!)?

Just add £400 to the bug price on the 911V site, and there's your car with a good 12 month warranty.

Called them. Seems straight (can't tell unless viewed of course), but they won't help with the wheels. That's a BIG turn off.
Exactly why should they help with the wheels? They will sell the car with them easily enough. I guess they are BBS split rims so a whole lot more expensive, and better quality, than the standard fit wheels (which look s
t IMHO but anyway).Buy the car sell the wheels, get some standard ones, job done. Why the obsession with the Porsche warranty anyway?

They look like 19" Cargraphic Racing wheels, which are 3-piece and circa £4,000 per set (so more expensive than BBS LMs)drpep said:

They have no reason to "help" with the wheels, I wasn't suggesting they should, just suprised that with their resources they could easily have a car that's more saleable but have chosen not to. They don't even know what the wheels are in fact.

Not sure where you've got the idea that I am obsessed with a Porsche warranty? Your suggestion makes sense, but not everyone has the time or inclination to deal with the hassle that involves.

Just add £400 to the bug price on the 911V site, and there's your car with a good 12 month warranty.
That is just a engine and gearbox warranty, and if it does go bang and you need a new one they make you pay another 3k. Hardly a warranty lol.Just add £400 to the bug price on the 911V site, and there's your car with a good 12 month warranty.
In the case of the GT3 with knocking sound just sold on the suspension on a car not yet a month old, then what ?
Does 911v then stand by a car not even 15 days out the show room, seems not.
Or is bug price " good bye, that's a bit of tough luck"
Or you pay 2k more and then they look for faults and give you a 3month warranty. ( works out to 8k pro rota for a warranty)
So you could pay retail price 2k more , add the £400 engine warranty and then when it goes bang in 4 months time they ask for another 3k
That's 5.4k for a warranty claim on a new engine on a 4 month old car.
I don't really call that a warranty.

So what's the point of the £2,000 uplift to 'retail' price then?
I believe they take the car for a full service whether it's in need of one or not, and replace items which might need replacing in the near future (ie brakes etc) which makes the car as close to perfect as possible. You then get a 3 month warranty covering pretty much everything. Having said that, I'd be surprised if many people take this route - the bug price plus warranty makes much more sense to me.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
