door opening

Whilst I have my car in peics, Id like to do something about the door opening...they don't open very wide. There's a rubber pad that stops the dront edge of the inner door hitting the body, but then it's door/apost contact...has anyone carried out a successful mod to let the door swing open wider??

I don't think anyone's done a mod as you can't cut into the body there as the whole body tub is structural and if you start cutting it away you'll end up with rigidity issues.
I'd also think that if you opened the door wider you'd end up with issues with fouling on the leading edge of the door.

Wasn't hinking about hacking the A pillar bit, more the door. Looks like (until I get the door off) plenty of meat in the front innner part to thin out.

I think any fouling will come from the door skin on the wing, top and bottom...

Will wip the doors off this week and have a propper look...

I'd progress very carefully before cutting any of the door itself away, it's that thick for a reason I'm sure.

+1 my drivers door doesn't open as wide as the near side door, I haven't got access to the car right now but as far as far as I remember the rubber pad sits on a protrusion from the body of the door so rubber off and trim the protrusion. When my drivers door hits the stop there is still loads of space between the door front and the wing and I reckon a small amount removed will make a big difference to the opening.
