Have you ever pulled someone over as a result of them adopting a ludicrous driving position.

Whilst bimbling though town the other day I saw a woman trying to negotiate a junction and having some difficulty. She was in the praying mantis position, her seat back was over the 90degrees and her chest was about 6 inches from the steering wheel. Consequently she was struggling with the steering wheel, plus if she was unfortunate enough to have an accident it was pretty clear that an airbag would probably crush her chest.

A bit later I saw laxxer driving in the Ali G position. I suppose it would be a good excuse to pull the laxxer to find out if his poorly rolled cigarette contained something of a herbal nature.

I've once ticket a chav for practically lying down in the driver's seat...

Not in proper control of the vehicle...fixed penalty ticket only...Didn't think anything stonger would have 'stuck'

Funny....Saw this post the day that we received a new claim to deal with a quite serious RTA injury claim involving 3 vehicles. Our client Toyota Yaris, happily pootling along in 50mph limit at 45mph approx with a car behind. A nice straight road, nothing to worry about...except....third party coming towards our client in a Merc ML, veers into our client causing a head on collision. The impact of which you can only imagine (i've seen the photo's of our clients Yaris - roof cut off etc). Spoke to a witness this AM who confirmed that the third party vehicle owner and driver at the time is an Asian lady, who was described as being just about able to see over the steering wheel. He put her height at about 4' 10-11". In fact the witness thought at first the Merc did not have a driver inside. Only on closer inspection did he see her inside. Can't help but think that the fact that this Woman was driving a car simply not suitable for her (only snob value) has contributed towards this accident. The stink of it is that she is holding our client responsible........for what? being in the wrong place at the wrong time? She won't win of course but I'm simply disgusted by this Woman's attitude.

From what I've seen, this is common problen with a lot of female drivers - my wife included.
I've lost count the number of times I've told her that she'd get more leverage on the steering wheel if she moved back a bit, plus she'd feel more relaxed on a long drive.
We're both exactly the same height and have similar arm and leg lengths, yet there's no way I can drive her car once she's been it!

In the front holding the big round thing works well for me.

The cool laid back, slackjawed head nodding type seat postitioning sometimes warrants attention. Also, the 'racing' type position of resting the whole forearm over the steering wheel whilst leaning over the gearstick to negotiate a straight road not only makes me p*ss myself laughing but would always warrant a chat.
