Some frinds have entered a team into this event which takes place on the 16th June and comprises of climbs up and down Snowdon, Cader Idris and Pen Y Fan.

21 miles all in and an ascent of well over 9000 feet in total.

They have been training hard for 6 months but one of the team has just broken their foot and has had to pull out. For some strange reason I have volunteered to take their place.

Has anyone done this before (or the English version) and have any hints or tips?

I do a fair bit of walking and have done Pen Y Fan and the surrounding peaks many times so I know whats involved.

I'm a regular gym goer and pretty fit but will be obviously upping the training straight away (on the step machine principally).

Thanks

Ynox

Did the proper 3 peaks last year.

No real advice if you're used to hill walking. Take care when descending though - easy to do yourself in when trying to haul it down a hill quickly!

Edit - and remember insect repellent for the top of Pen Y Fan unless you want to be eaten by midges!

Did the proper 3 peaks last year but have also done those three you mention.

Heres a photo I took at the summit of cadair

The only thing I'd suggest is be prepared for the worst with the weather - complete changes for each peak, and even consider 2 pairs of boots (kit bag on transport, daysack for what you need on the mountain itself). I figured there was no way itd rain hard enough to completely destroy 3 complete changes and only took 2, last peak was a bit grim in still soggy clothes.
