Hi,

My Mk1 1.8 has a tan coloured vinyl hood which has suffered from being left folded too long. The hood is pretty grimy with some green/black mold staining.

Can anyone recommend a suitable cleaner?

Thank you,

Dom

I've had good results with the Autoglym kit on fabric roof material before. Is your fabric or vinyl?

Renovo. You can get it from MX5 Parts.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. The hood is vinyl, I'll give Renovo a try.

This is the one I bought (for a lot more than that!) at my local car bits place.
I can't pretend I was overly impressed with the cleaner but the re-protector does a grand job of beading the rain water.

Then do the hokey kokey.

On a serious note though it's by far the best vinyl roof clear I've used.

I have bought some autoglym stuff. No idea how good it is as I haven't tried it yet, but my roof is pretty wrecked so I probably should of threw that £20 down the street.

AG stuff is good, I've used it on three of my cars and still have some left.

After it has been cleaned and protected water beads and rolls off.

The AG is ok. I guess a fair bit will also be down to personal preferance.

Not as daft as it sounds, there's some extremely good vinyl paint available.
