I'd certainly be impressed if you can find a cheaper equivalent ...

Without doubt the best rental company at the ring - have used them ever since I first visited (which was not longer after they opened) and returned regularly since. Fredy/Ralph/Dale are a fantastic team and as far as I'm concerned there's no reason to go anywhere else as they can't be beated on price/quality. With the cars being fully insured for the track, you are not faced with the issues of going out during TF with a UK insured car.

The Swifts are fantastic little cars and perfect for learning the ring, the Corsas are great if you want more power (and a fantastic sounding car with that). The only car I think is slightly disappointing is the DS3. It's handles well, but the gearing is somehow not quite right and the sound is disappointing - almost like a diesel. Simply can't wait for when they get their R300 delivered - that will be epic.

Ultimately you can rent more exotic machines from other companies, but the fact that the new Swift can make it round is 8:40 BTG says it all. I suspect most people who hire an M3/GT3 from RSR are not much quicker, if at all, especially with a 35-50k euro excess on their minds.

That is pretty benign poor service, I can think of many ways that poor service could have been really really bad indeed.

So you just sat and waited "for a few hours" for a phone call? I would have just gone down there and picked a car!

Is it a modern thing, that people expect to be emailed / called back but never seem to actually inititate face to face contact that quite often, is the best way to get things done.

I've rented cars off Dale a few times, in his Alfa / RSR days, never had a problem. I believe I still hold the record for most laps in a day on an RSR unlimited mileage ring rental (30).

Pricey compared with who else?

Couldnt speak highly enough of Dale. Used him loads at RSR and last month rented the yellow Stg3 Corsa VXR from them at his new place Rent4Ring

Excellent car, great service and top blokes from my experience.

I used these people http://www.rentracecar.de/ back in March for a Trackday. Very pleasant and professional to deal with, and the Scirocco we rented had only done about 500 miles! Not cheap I guess, but when the wear and tear on the car is taken into account, probably reasonable.

Ah well, I guess we all have different expectations. I just expected the car to be ready as ordered, or if circumstances had changed then to be told about them beforehand or certainly when we had the face to face contact a short-while earlier. Indeed, I waited and then drove back to Rent4ring (a second time) because the company could not be brothered to respond to my email or call me. Maybe 10 minutes, 1hr or 2hrs may be an acceptable time to wait for a response to question. I guess its personal.

Glad that Rent4ring worked out for others. Although as others have pointed out Rent4ring are cheaper than some of the competition and you generally get what you pay for.
I have used rent4ring; rent-racecar and RSR for rental. They all have their pluses and minuses, however, I would gladly use all again.

I am certainly a fan of rent4ring, and indeed consider Ralf to be a friend - I think I was the first person to crash one of his cars, years back now, and I guess something like that will either make a friend or an enemy ... wink

However, notwithstanding my clear bias that I would say that the experience you describe is not acceptable, and I would hope that if you make them aware they would do their very best to make amends. I hope you give them the opportunity to.

The 3 major players for rentals at the 'ring are Rent4Ring, RentRacecar and RSR. I have used them all and frankly would happily recommend any of them. Surprised to hear of a bad experience with R4R as I've never heard of any before. The Swifts are good fun, particularly at that money (even for a committed RWD snob such as I) and R4R are currently my default choice to use or recommend, though the RentRacecar Z4 does have a very tempting level of appeal...

Hi mate,

Unfortunately I only got your email asking you to call me about 10 minutes before you walked back in, I know you sent it a lot earlier. We had a room full of customers, by the time I got the phone in my hand and the Russian's guy's questions answered (yes, the all-inclusive includes fuel and tickets, no the basic rental does not etc...) you were walking in the door!

Some days I sit by the email and can answer people very quickly, unfortunately that afternoon you emailed me and asked me to phone you back, I was on my feet and not looking at the computer. Sorry! I would have phoned you but you didn't fill in the mobile number on the booking form. Hence the email asking you to phone us.

I actually was about to offer you the Artega for a very good price (still stands for your next visit), but you didn't want to speak to me. I accept that confirming the car is ready, and then discovering the belts hadn't been changed was completely my fault. I presumed it was ready, and that was my fault, I'm sorry for that. Presumption being the mother of all f*ck ups, the bag from the parts place was NOT the belts for the MX5 and therefore me thinking 'phew that was close' was actually completely wrong. The MX5 was not ready...

Anyway, offer still stands for the Artega, come back and see us.

No worries, just let us know as soon as you can. We only have two Artega GTs and they're starting to get popular as word spreads. I'll try and handle your booking better next time!

Hi Dale, You probably wont remember us. A group of chunky english fella's that you kindly made us a hose up for one of the Nobles back in March.....

You then took us for a trip into your house to see the picture of Jack Osbourne and the pretty young lady....

Thanks for your help on the last trip and thanks for your hospitality even more.

We should be back over in August so we will pop in for a coffee.

Matty.

we were going to pop in last weekend, but given it was a little damp and none of the boys without cars fancied stuffing a swift into the armco so we gave it a miss.. next time!
