MGB battery

I am after a new battery for my 77 GT but am unsure as to what I need.
I want to fit one of those plastic battery boxes eventually so I want to buy a battery that will fit the box.

Could anybody recommend a battery size that will fit inside one of the boxes?

What is your current setup? the 2 6V batterys under the rear "seat", you wont get a 12V one in there so may as well go straight to the battery box and get one to fit it now.

Single 12v as standard

I've put in a decent Bosch one. It's a pretty tight fit in the battery compartment, so there's way it will go inside a plastic box.
I sat it on a thin piece of plywood to keep it off the metal floor.

I've just picked one up from Halfords, my MG has the 12v conversion and this battery is easily small enough to fit in one of the 6v cavity's.

I picked it up purely as I wanted one that was small enough to fit yet had decent cranking power as the car was a non-starter for several years and so was going to sap some juice before firing, anyway battery worked a treat and didn't need to even add a jump pack. Well worth a look in my opinion.

I was going to add the battery details but despite my best efforts Halford's website won't let you browse anything without putting your reg in which it doesn't recognise - brilliant! From memory it was £75 but came with a £10 off voucher for anything in store on my next visit.

Got a new battery for my 78 B roadster last year on line for £55. Can't remember the exact spec, but the website worked out which one was the right one and it's a perfect fit - just enough room for the plastic bin if you did fit one too - they don't take up much room tbh.
