As per the title really. Looking for suitable suggestions for a 2 night break next week preferably within 2 hour drive of north London. £300 budget for the 2 nights and plan on getting a discount by booking late.

This really is going to be a break in that we plan on doing sweet FA for 2 days and catching up with some DVD box sets etc etc so a big flash telly in the room would be great!

After hotels similar to these (already stayed in these):

tuddenham mill

Thanks in advance.

One of my favourites is the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield. It's £300 per night at weekends but during the week they have a 50% off offer so would fit into your budget then.

ETA - they have funky B&O TVs in the rooms

Check out the Small Luxury Hotels of the World Chain - .slh.com/ - can recommend Tylney Hall (got married there) and Danesfield House is also nice.

If you want total opulence then you won't go wrong at the Four Seasons Hampshire (near Odiham off the M3). We live 30mins from the place and still go stay there 2 or 3 times a year! They can arrange fly fishing, clay shooting, horse riding etc. Their Spa/treatments are also amazing. You will feel like Kings and Queens lol

Indeed, it's a good suggestion. Try the Stadhampton location too, for a little more "in the country" feel.
You wouldn't want to go anywhere near Beaconsfield tonight - the fair is in town. It'll be horrible and full of Slough scuffers. The whole place will be stinking of Westlers hot dogs, candy floss and red diesel.

Malmaison in Oxford is in the old prison.

1 room is three cells, and very nice for an unusual stay. Unsure about prices, you'd have to see what you can do. (The walls are thick, so you'll get a decent nights kip.)

+1.
Stayed in the "Prison Govenors" room and the "Correctional Centre".
Very cool place - it's like being in your own episode of "Bad Girls" or even better, "Porridge"

Never heard of travelling two hours and paying a couple of hundred quid to watch TV in someone else's room for two days. Interesting concept.

Even more shocking is the people that go to places that charge to feed them
when they can very easily cook for themselves at home.

Who are you to judge? You know nothing about our circumstances that may in fact dictate these parameters

Idiot.

We do similar about 10 times a year. You should try it. Just got back from a hotel 2 hours drive away. Food by Albert Roux and early morning dog walks here:

Lucknam Park, near Bath, Wiltshire (great spa but may be too expensive)

Tilney Hall, Hook, Hampshire

The Anchor, Lower Froyle, Hampshire (A pub but a seriously beautifuly one!!)

Howards House Hotel, Teffont Evias, Wiltshire (well worth checking out and really pretty location)

For recommendations worth reading then I would check out: www.sawdays.co.uk - pretty much all of our away accommodation comes from there and not had a duff one yet.
