tom tom one not talking

Hi Guys
I have a Tom Tom one about 7 years old.
For somer reason it has stopped talking to me. Typical women!!
All sounds are turned up but nothing.
Now and again it swquaks at me as though it is trying to say something then nothing.
I have updated the software this morning and nothing.
Any suggestions?
