By accident I discovered that the iPhone4S’ voice control feature (SIRI) works through the Bluetooth system on the V8V. It means voice command calling and access to other read-aloud functions with a single press of the SIRI button. I find navigating the on-board synchronised address book a bit of a challenge but using SIRI means a simple click and a spoken instruction for example, ‘call John Smith on his mobile’, the call being placed on hands-free and SIRI using the car audio system to reply to commands.

ON a related note I have discovered that you can activate SIRI even without pressing the iPhone home button.

On my 07 vantage, give the voice command "dial voice name"

You'll get the SIRI audio prompt/bleep and then you can tell it to do whatever you want - play track/album, call etc. I've even managed to enter calendar meetings.

Give it a go!!!!

Just to clarify, how do you get the voice command prompt? Is it by pressing any of the bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel?

Thanks

Absolutely brilliant, thanks for the info. The voice command to the car Bluetooth to activate the Siri is "phone voice name" though.

IIRC (I hate using phones even out of the car smile), with the phone off press the lower phone button on the wheel. It will ask you for a command. Say the phrase noted above and away you go.

Being able to change tracks etc is pretty cool. When the 5 comes out will no doubt get one and have a play.

Opps. Sorry you are unite right there.

All SIRI commands are accessible after the beep. You need to be off throttle so the background noise doesn't confuse SIRI.

I like telling it to play tracks and albums! A very handy feature is you can use it to read out your text messages and to compose replies. I managed to create a calendar entry and send out invites all via SIRI.

Am I missing something.... I can't seem to get the SIRI prompt by pressing the "hang up" button on the steering wheel or any other button on my 08 Vantage (N400). Pressing that and/or trying the voice prompt "phone voice name" appears to do nothing for me.

The only way I can do it is by holding the home button down as you would in normal usage. However for me being able to do this through the car itself would be really useful as I tend to keep my phone plugged in and in the arm compartment.
