I've recently started eating less, and doing more walking, as I need to lose a lot of weight.
For the past 3 or 4 days I have had a tightening pain in my chest, more uncomfortable than painful, and cold shooting pains going down my legs, today I have started with a really bad headache.
I am also type 2 diabetic.
Any ideas?

The tightening pain in your chest is a classic symptom of angina - essentially when the heart muscle doesn't receive enough oxygen and nutrients (ischaemia). You really should get down to A&E to get an ECG done as soon as possible. For the past 3 or 4 days I have had a tightening pain in my chest, more uncomfortable than painful, and cold shooting pains going down my legs, today I have started with a really bad headache.

Do not panic, it is treatable with drugs such as GTN, but you need to seek advice quickly.

Thats one possibility. Did you talk to your GP or even someone at a gym before you started excercising, you can do too much too soon and it sounds like you may have several symptoms. The headaches can simply be dehydration, though the chest pains dont sound brilliant.. are you a smoker or ex smoker, could be lungs just coming back to life. Shooting pains could be muscular, especially if you dont warm up & down and if you are a bit over weight. When I started back I was way overweight and even walking on atreadmill at a pace would make my calf muscles sting.Do not panic, it is treatable with drugs such as GTN, but you need to seek advice quickly.
As a fellow type2, I do encourage you to persue the weight loss. Its a
s trick sometimes and seriously hard, but it is worth it. Both my weight and sugars are both under control for the 1st time in years and I feel physically and mentally better for it. But do go see a quack, even if its just for reassurance and getting an excercise planenglisharcher said:
I'm 21 stone
Ex smoker, quit a year ago.
Didn't consult anyone.
Walked 3 miles a day for the first week.
Now into third week, and walking six miles a day, five days a week.
Looks like I'm going to see the doctor.
You have the right attitude, I would say you just need to pace yourself a bit! Good luck, it is worth itEx smoker, quit a year ago.
