Nick recently removed the exhaust of my Chimaera as part of his prep for his eurotrip this year, and realised that the silencing of any form is that oval box, around 18-20 inches long in the middle of the exhaust. This has given him ideas of putting Cherry Bombs on it, as one of his college projects must involve welding. Now, I have some questions:

1. How loud will it be? We all like a good V8 soundtrack, but I have elderly neighbours and I don't want to upset them (although to be fair most of them seem to like the TVRs).

2. What size will fit without having to well in additional pieces of pipe to fill in the gaps? I know you can get 12 inch cherry bombs, but can you get larger ones?

3. What diameter is best? I take it the larger diameter ones do more silencing?

Thanks in advance,

Tony

I did a conversion inside the box, but not cherrybombs. Took out the two perforated pipes, welded in two stainless pipes with much fewer holes in them, stuffed in new dampening material and welded shut.

Now sounds nice, not too loud but nice snarl. I get pops and bangs but not the awful resonance of an empty box...

It sounds better if you buy or make your own silencers .I had my exhaust converted ,sounded fantastic

Raspy not agricultural and you don`t get that annoying resonance sound ..

Or another option is to go half and half ,i actually heard this exhaust on a 450 ,it sounded good but not over the top.

Great! Did you use a toaster to take those shots or was this a running photoshoot?
