Hi All,

I just thought I had to share this with you.....I have driven and had a fair few quick'ish cars over the years......E46 M3 being the quickest I've owned.

Today I had the oppourtunity to drive a 2003 996TT manual....full throtle in 2nd gear from 20mph+ just was unbelieveable. Things really did get blury...kind of like warp factor....I really am not joking!

I didn't think there would be a that much of a difference between a 343bhp & 420bhp...this thing was in another leauge!!

One word of advice.....never, ever, ever.....drive a 996TT manual.....you will fall in love and want one!

OMG !

Indeed - they're very fast. 269 ft lbs vs. 413 ft lbs.

I am sure all of us remember the first drive in a car that made us feel like you did. (Mine was my TVR cloud9) biggrin

Well done and when are you getting one? smile

I drove a Tiptronic 996T as a part of an experience day I got for completing my apprenticeship. I've got a bit of experience driving fairly quick cars, my last road car was a 320BHP+ twin turbo Jap import so I wasn't expecting to be blown away nailing the throttle at about 70MPH, but boy was I! It pulled relentlessly until I could no longer ignore my over zealous shouting 'easy' to warn me that I might just crash, on a deserted stretch of arrow straight tarmac rolleyes.

My only thought afterwards was just how brutal a remapped car sporting x50 Turbos must be!

This is just what I cannot get over.

I have driven quick cars in my time, including 2010/11 Mercedes AMG cars (they were a client).....This 996TT was brutal...sooooo quick.

I seriously cannot imagine how any other road car could be more capable unless you spent £200k or somthing silly!?

I'm not going to think about running costs just yet! LOL !

I used to get that 'blur'. Now I never do, far too used to it.

I drove a GT-R recently and came away absolutely amazed at the performance. I've also driven and owned a few cars which were fast, but this was in a different league. Would love to try a 997T/GT2

My friend had an R8 V10 on loan and took me out in it. I had a Monaro with 350bhp at the time, and I thought it was quite fast but the R8 made me laugh out loud.

You soon get used to the acceleration, you need to think whether the rest of it hits the spot once the straight line speed wears off, I quite fancy one next but having been in/driven a few I am not sure how long my interest and licence would last.

yes My first passenger trip in one had me struggling to speak as I had to collect my stomach from the rear seat, but once you're used to that, the insane grip and the incredible composure make the whole seem remarkably sane. Unlike a car like a Tiv which feels like it'll fall apart, explode or fly well before the Porsche has reached V max biggrin

The 996 Turbo was the first ever sports car (and Porsche) I had ever been in, and I don't think anything has really come close since part from the hyper cars like Ferrari Enzo's ad Atoms etc...

What I remember fondly was being about 9 years old and tucking myself into the small rear seat, and as we exited the car park onto a NSL road the driver (my dads boss) booted it and i physically couldn't pull myself forward! Then there was the noise of the thing! Just amazing biggrin When I finally plucked up the courage to ask how fast we were going I was told 'Only 90'. Then we accelerated a but more biggrin Just about one of the greatest car rides I've ever had. Absolutely astonishing.

Try a 997 turbo.

Gave me a real fright on my 600cc sports bike.

Astoundingly quick.
