Amy piano teachers who offer lessons?

Evening all,

Over the last few months I have had a real itch to take up the piano again. My last experience was a good 30 years ago at school, grade 5 flute and grade 4 piano....I played both for a good few years from an early age. I guess the fingers are probably not as nimble as then but I would love to give it a go again. Pointers most welcome....

Find yourself a local teacher - somebody good will set you going again and ensure you have "stuff" to practice each week to start progressing. It's surprising how much more motivated you are if you're set a small task by a teacher, work towards it and complete it, rather than just aimlessly try to self teach.

Best bets are probably looking at the notice board in the local music shop or asking around for a recommendation, or perhaps a web search (www.musicteachers.co.uk). There may well be a big UK based piano forum to post on as well, which may get you a good recommendation - I've found www.pianoworld.com, but it looks predominantly American at a first glance.

Just buy a cheap full-size keyboard and teach yourself. If you find you enjoy it, then ebay the keyboard and get a digital piano.
