Holden badges - why?
Discussion
I was stuck in traffic yesterday behind a newish Vauxhall Corsa, and instead of the usual Vauxhall griffin boot badge it had one of these:

Took me a while to find it on Google, I thought it might be something to do with football (lion standing on a ball of some sort) but turns out to be a Holden badge.
Question is, why? Was it a personal import Aussie spec Corsa? Do they even have cars that small over there? Or is this some kind of automotive rebadging subculture that I have missed?

I guess its to be different. A harmless persuit, but its way better than some of the things people do on the modding scene.
Maybe its because back in the late 70s we had a Manta in the family, I have always perceived Opel as being a little bit better than Vauxhall. The Manta was to me a posh Cavalier. The same for Monza v Royale.
As it happens just last night I was chatting to the local handyman here in SW Scotland. His van was an Opel Corsa. He got it from Southern Ireland where they sell Opels.

Happens here is Oz as well, people re-badge their Holden Commodores and Utes with Chevrolet badges. (i'm ordering some soon for my ute!)
That is hilariousWhat is sold over here as chevrolet are just daewoo's (korean brand GM bought). You can buy an orlanda/camaro/corvette here, but they are so ridiculously overpriced (thanks to import restrictions/tax, a camaro costs nearly 100.000 euros, compared to $25k in the states.
