Morning

The family car, Mondeo Diesel estate auto (current model) on a 57 plate, 53,000 miles has started causing some problems

1) motorway journey, coughed and died, went to the hard shoulder, restarted it and it was fine
2) month later in suburban traffic - losing power, stuttering, engine failure light came on. Recovered to the garage (great service from Green Flag). Garage then test drove it with no problems the next day
3) picking up from garage, did not make it off the forecourt, engine died, car then jammed in park. Fine the next day when the garage test drove it

They cannot find a fault - anyone got any experience of what this could be?

Help?

I'm not a car nut, but my daughters diesel focus had the same thing. The EGR valve had gone on it and they found an earth wire with a break in it towards the bottom of the engine bay.

Thanks chaps.

Car has been serviced by ford since new, will check on fuel filter and investigate the egr.

Think a trade in might be coming up...

Cheers
