This just popped up on my facebook feed and I must say I feel for the poor chap. If it was indeed meat'n'pastry door-unlockers then I somehow doubt he'll ever see it again though

I didn't know the scrap metal fraternity knew so much about rare breeds of tortoise.

Perhaps they run dodgy pet shops too. But being opportunist I'd presume they generally nick anything that isnt nailed down

awwww thats terrible for the old fella, losing his lifelong friend,

I must admit when I put my Hermans (he is only 8 years old!) out in the garden in summer he is always in a fenced off area and I do keep an eye for him being stolen! a quick few hundred quid for a passing opportunist!

Thieving 3.142keys steal pets, wait for the reward notices to be posted, then claim the reward.

£500 is the going rate for a dog - don't know what it would be for a tortoise.

Now's the 'season' for it, in Surrey at least. It always seems to coincide with the arrival of a certain element around the Derby.
