Hello PH forum...

I'm in midst of agreeing purchase of first 911... a 2005 997 2CS tip. High spec including sports exhaust, 62k miles on clock.

Having owned a Gen2 Cayman I've got some idea of the Porsche ownership but not 911 & certainly not anything that hasn't rolled out of a main dealer!

I'm buying from well known London independent (so far a very positive experience!) & having the car checked by Peter Morgan ...

Car is priced at 25k, is this ballpark good value?!
Any tips on ownership, especially street parking which I can't avoid & things to look out for?

Cheers

Good spot... This is the very car!
Portiacraft was 3rd dealer I contacted, they have been very straight forward and I test drove the car 3 times with no hassle.

Now for the inspection!

The 911 plate was not included frown

Price is right, I know someone who got a similar car for £25k a few months back.

Looks lovely!

Why do you want a tip? Are you going to commute in it? Tips detract from the driving experience IMHO.

Had short shift manual in Cayman - which was great... but reality is in central London I can be doing without a clutch pedal... it's a compromise of practicality!

Then that is a very smart buy indeed.

Quick update... picked up car on 18th May, so have been proud owner for little over 10 days.

So far I flip between a mad grin when I think about the car & paranoid android given the endless passing humans that skirt past it's street berth.

A word on Portiacraft, obviously 1 bad experience can spawn endless threads but I can say that I have been pleased with the no BS approach, Harry et al were transparent all the way & delivered on the niggles found by Peter Morgan report (well worth IMHO). They'll be my 1st port of call for next car smile

Despite reservations, I can say the TIP has been a pleasure so far. Sat nav is a little naff... But I could have bought a Volvo for that kinda stuff. Ha ha

Also, the very morning after picking up the car I proved to the amusement of many watching tourists you can fit a race bike in the back of a 911. Perfect, practical, Porsche, result!

997 turbo in a year I reckon idea
