Anyone tried one of these?
I've a pioneer head unit, and whilst listen to the radio isn't the main priority, I'd at least like the option!
Am guessing a new (better) ariel would be needed, but these can be hidden away.
At the moment I get bugger all (except classic FM which I am sure will be the last broadcast on this planet)

Haven't got it in the Griff, (can't hear it over engine and swmbo). Do have it in my daily driver, Freelander2
Its pretty good but reception is a bit all or nothing. Lots of channels, Ultimate Radio has dedicated 70's 80's and 90's channels, there's also TalkSport, 6 music etc - loads of choice.
Not as good a choice as the Sirius satellite radio but I think thats only available in North America.
Tbh, have listened to dab more than the ipod since i got it, usually something on that i want to listen to.

Radio reception was pants in my Griff as well. The standard aerial (in my car anyway) is just a bit of braided wire wound round the loom behind the dash. Its a wonder it received any radio channels at all. I thought that aerials were supposed to be as isolated from other elecrical inputs as much as possible to reduce interference - not sure how winding it round the main loom helps here???
I ditched the original stereo and got a newer (non-DAB) Pioneer head unit and also fitted a mod-wise amplified aerial in the boot. Dont know if the more recent head unit has helped the amplified aerial to improve matters or not, but reception now is very much improved.
There are a number of gadgets available ('PURE Highway' for example) that you can stick to the winscreen that will receive DAB signals and then squirt them to you stereo - as long as its compatible I guess. You will need a DAB aerial I think, but the PURE comes with its own that you stick to the windscreen as well.

Looking at mine the connections seem fine. The ariel is the bit of wire behind the dash.
I've seen a dab ariel the sits on the windscreen before, there is a car audio shop near to me that purports to be a dab specialist.
I'll let people know how I get on.
Will also be fitting some rear speakers if anyone has some recommendations that clear the fuel tank will be glad to hear.

when i took out the centre whale tail to repair something, i fitted a cheap amplified ariel off ebay, the type that needs a power supply and earth(both easy to find in that area). it was a snug fit and i removed the radio to manoover it into an unobstructive position. it works well with my sony head unit. i didnt have the original ariel and don't like the idea of bare wire on top of the tank.
Little update.
Settled in a blaupunkt set up. No longer available here, they pulled out of the official uk market apparently.
Anyway, one of my trips turned up a blaupunkt Nashville DAB47 head unit, window mounted aerial, iPod connect and a slimline underseat sub-woofer and amp. Whole lot a shade under £300.
Installing over the weekend.
Any recommendations for a good grounding point? Only thing the supplier was concerned about.
