Good small car for tall drivers?

Yes, it's an oxymoron I know!
I'm 6'5" with a 33" inside leg. I fancy a new small car, 3 year PCP, used 99% of it's life to do the 10 mile commute to work and shopping, that kind of thing. (got a Boxster S for weekend / holiday playing, 2 bikes for holidays / plaything / decent weather commuting)
(for this thread, lets leave out the "why buy new, get a used car instead" please, used small cars are not cheap)
So went along to the Citroen garage yesterday as I like the looks of the DS3. Sat in it. Adjusted seat, steering wheel, seat, wheel, seat... My knees were *still* the wrong side of the steering wheel, the foot pedals are really too far back. Great for people with short legs, but no good for me.
Think I'll wander out and look at a Nissan Juke later today.
Anyone else who is tall with longish legs found gold when small car hunting? Both the Boxster and the old BMW 535 I've got have deep footwells (Boxster isn't that deep really, but still a lot deeper than the DS3s, and it's not build for comfort above all else!)
Fiesta? 207? Aygo? (bit small) 308? (bit big) Focus? (bit boring)

Don't bother with a new car, one of the most comfortable cars I've owned was a 300 quid Alfa 145 Cloverleaf kitted with the factory Momo Leather interior.
If you're only doing 10 miles each way a day why waste money on a new car????

I'm 6'3"ish with relatively long legs and after an unfortunate incident with my company MINI (on which I didn't even have the seat in its most rearward position, with 3-4" of air above my head at least even though I like to have the seat back in a relatively upright position) I've had the pleasure of several rentals:
Hyundai i20 - really cramped for legroom, your comments of the DS3 applied to me with this one in pretty much the same way. Steering wheel doesn't go far enough towards me
Fiesta - ditto
Audi A3 - fine, seat all the way to the back though.
Others that I recently drove:
Kia Rio - not as uncomfortable as the Hyundai and Fiesta, not great either but for me, acceptable
Lancia Ypsilon - space is good in a 'sit up and beg' fashion, seat bottoms way too short, having the pedals more underneath than in front of me I find quite uncomfortable in the long run (goes for all MPV-like cars independent of size).
Citroën C3 Picasso - as per above. I think they make the seats to size for sub-5 footers.
I've driven a DS3 and it was fine for me (although seat was all the way back), so I'd say that'd make the Fiesta and Hyundai definite non-starters for you as, I would extrapolate, all other regular 'family' B-segment (supermini) cars. The MINI doesn't really take rear seat passengers into account so the driving position is uncompromised for anything up to 95 percentile males I would guess.

The focus is only boring because it's so popular. They're pretty decent IMHO
I'm also 6'5", with a 33" ish inside leg, and I can fit in my focus where I can't in some much larger cars. Anything VAG, forget it, not enough seat movement. Jap is slightly better, but I found I was sitting on the floor to get under the wheel.
Truth be told, you'll need to try plenty before you make a choice.

it depends you need to try them for yourself i am 6 ft 5 in with a 34 in inside leg and i cant fit in the focus or mondeo(dont know about the newer one) but i drive a grande punto with the foot rest removed and found that a skoda octavia was about right for leg room
hmm, I'm surprised that you can fit in the skoda, my dad's 58 reg estate is no use for me, can't get comfortable for love nor money. I just shows that it's really down to your shape, some fit, some don't. I will say that you're going to struggle to fit into any supermini (comfortably)For a ten mile commute, you might be able to persevere. But I wouldn't. Get a car that fits
