Has anyone on the forum played one of these bad boys?

Read some great reviews and thinking of upgrading my Mesa Express 5:50. I like playing a variety of music styles from blues, classic rock to metal.
Any first hand reviews / comments appreciated.

Yep I owned one for a while, it came from world guitars actually.
Fantastic sound, the feel, the dynamics of how sensitive it was to the touch on the guitar strings is remarkable. The amp just seems to breath unlike any other I had owned. Only thing i wasnt keen on was the ch 2 & 3 sharing the same eq's, but I dare say given bit more time I would of worked out the sounds around it. I had a Mesa mk 5 at the same time, and I have to say the Matchless was just a differant level again, and I love Mesa...
you wont be dissapointed.
I sold all my amps as gone to AXe FX2 , which is just stunning, but thats another story!!...matchless A1 quality & sound...if I was going tube again that is the one I would buy back first!

Axe 2 has just seen the release of software 6, complete with tone matching etc. Its just all there in one box. Tone matching allows one to record clips of guitars say on albums or from other amps & copy that tone into the axe, there is some fantastic results over on the forum where users have got for example Van halen tones down spot on to the album sound on VH1, remarkable.
Its just such a fantastic piece of kit, used to have an ultra, and that was good, but one thing I did find was that you couldnt quite get the 'feel' ih the same way. Like I said about the matchless, it was just alive to the touch of finger/string/plectrum, that has been missing to a certain extent in digital, tone has been there, but lack of feel. 6.0 and axe2 has got that so close now to the matchless level its ridiculous, listen I am only a home player,but have played for over 30 years. I have had every amp you could think of from an original 60's plexi/mesa roadking/mkv/matchless...blah blah blah. Just dont need them anymore, digital has moved it all on for me now.
I use the Axe2 into 2 RCF NX10's monitors..axe goes into a mixer, ipod into the mixer, outputs into the RCF's...the best sounding setup I have ever had.
Also controlling the axe with axe edit on the laptop which works well, and got the MFC101 floorboard which again works really well.
Strangely at the same time I got this setup, a mesa mini rectifier head I had ordered arrived....havent even plugged that in yet!, too busy auditoning all the user patches put up for the axe.
Sorry will stop spouting now, but if you are thinking of spending ££ on an amp, definatly research the axe option thoroughly before spending that hard earned
