Do birds target clean cars?

Gave both cars a really good clean today, both absolutely gleaming when I'd finished.

We went out for a walk this afternoon, got back, both cars covered in bird st, not a drop on any other car in the vicinity!

Am I paranoid, or do they really target freshly cleaned cars.

Yes, in my experience... Got crapped on on the way back from the car wash... and since then (removed said excrement when I got home) I must have removed 4 lots... This is since last Sunday.

Next doors car, that hasn't been washed for yonks, is completely crap free. Not impressed.

Good thread this, i spent saturday washing and polishing my car, spent about 7 hours on it, left the windows down, it was after id put everything away i noticed the birdst on the dashboard

Birds only target freshly washed cars individually. For freshly waxed and detailed cars they call up the whole flock.

Don't know about birds, but there's something in the Autoglym shampoo that I use that attracts bugs and flies like nothing else.

Won't be a single living creature visible on the car when it's dirty, but as soon as I start washing it with that stuff, they descend on it and I'm forever having to whap them away with a microfibre before I rub them into the paint.

someone told me something once about them preferring to defecate over water and newly washed and silver cars give off the same kind of reflection as water from above.....might be crap (be dum)

I'd heard something similar about their preference for dark coloured cars.

Yea, I think that's based on some sort of fallacy that would have its own wikipedia page.
People don't nothing birdcrap on the floor near cars, they only pay attention when it hit something they didn't want covered in crap.

They targeted my head a couple of weeks ago whilst cleaning the car.

OT but years ago my Gran was once walking through Sunderland town centre when a seagull dropped a fish on her head. Sent her, and her newly purchased fruit and veg to the floor.

Yes, if there is an adequate reason, and no other options.
The herring gull, greater and lesser black backed gulls are on the list.

I can vouch for this, about 7/10 times, nice clean car and a big dump is aimed at it. My neighbors banged up 15 year old vehicle filthy like hell and nothing hey avoid it.

This seems to be the rule near to where I live. The neighbour did talk about investing in a Bird deterrent device, he is currently looking up the RSPCB.
