Fans not working .. where to start ??
Discussion
OK - discovered over the weekend that my neither of my fans are working.
These have been working perfectly up to this point and the car has only recently come back on the road following a winter slumbering in my heated garage..
Checked the fuses and the relays and no problem there - strange that neither of them are working me thinks, which suggests a commom problem effecting both obviously ..
So - spanners and allen keys at the ready - anyone care to suggest where I should start digging ?
Temperature Gauge is reading what I would call normal for my car, and when driving, the temp is just below 70 as it has always been since I bought the car - but noticed it got over 95 while in traffic on Friday - which is normally when my fans kick in (just under 95 actually) , and tested in again today at home and not a sign of life from either fan ...
Sorry if this has been covered before, but the search on here is just ... well, it's cr@p really isn't it !

take them off the car, support them firmly and run them straight off a battery to make sure the motors are fine, then work backwards. These have been working perfectly up to this point and the car has only recently come back on the road following a winter slumbering in my heated garage..

With the wngine running, pull the connection to the temperature thermostat on the top of the cooling pile that runs along the top of the chassis in front of the engine (you may need to remove the scuttle panel). If the fans kick in then you know they are ok.
If they work then you may have either a failed thermostat or a dirty connection. Mine were intermittent & I checked this way, cleaned the connector with WD40, and all is fine now. I don't think it does any harm after a spell in a garage or in the damp to spray some of the key connectors with WD40, GT85 or similar.

Micky, I now have my Cerb down here in Parkstone, if you ever fancy a bit of a trip out....
