So im the owner of the x308 jaguar xjr which is a standard 372bhp, had a long play with an 2010reg focus rs yesterday and while I couldnt get my power down enough to stay with him during the bends, I found the straight bits of road rather interesting. In detail from a rolling 20mph to 120mph I pulled just over a car length on him, after these speeds to a further 150mph I pulled a further 3 car lengths on top of that. However it was quite close to start with which took me a little by surprise, do you think his rs was standard to do this or perhaps chipped or modded in some way?
Your experiences and opions welcome

Pirate you say?

This be the XJ aaaaarrrrrr?

( Autocar say XJR 0-60 in 5.3, 0-100 in 12.8
Focus Rs is 5.7, 0-100 in 13.9

Maybe the RS was standard then ... )

Pirate! Wow..you do like to live life dangerously...

On a serious note does sound like the RS is remapped with maybe a few supporting mods. Can't underestimate those RSes...I've read about ones with nearly 500bhp...

It's far easier to nail it on the road in an FWD car than an RWD car. Therefore he was able to get his power down more effectively than you, as he didn't need to worry about the back stepping out if he was a bit throttle happy. Besides, a 300bhp Focus isn't exactly going to be slow, is it? Especially given it weighs less than your Jag.

205BHP/Ton vs 211/ton

Not really surprised there wasn't much in it, I would say the focus was standard and unmodified.

Does the Jag XJR not lose a lot of bhp through the auto-box? I'd reckon it was a bog standard RS.

Some actual test figures above - the Jag seems to get a stride on after 60 looking at the time to 100

I remember chasing down one of those effingarses in France nr Le Touquet. Must have been chipped with a hybrid turbo and bigger injectors - but I'll never know..... It did take a bit if catching tho even on the arghhh one!
Sadly it was probly std just well driven by a local!

Probably standard by the sound of it.

Why are you so keen to find out anyway? I see you even joined the RSOC to ask them
