Has anyone fitted 6" x 9" speakers in the doors of a S3 or V8S???? Just want to know if there is enough room to fit them! The ones at the moment are 5.5" round.

Much appreciated.

I don't hink 6 x 9s will fit, maybe in the back. I think Podie has these.

Don't think they'll fit in the front Mike, but could be proved wrong. IIRC the restriction is on the depth of the speaker before it hits the lowered window glass.

I need to tackle this soon myself having put in a nice new headunit, only to find I can't hear it!

Am planning to replace the front speakers with something of similar size, then put some dirty great big ones in the back!

Just another job to add to the list.....

There is no way you'll be able to fit 6" by 9"'s in your S doors. I had trouble fitting a pair of 13cm Infinity's due to the location of the arm rests.

They sound 10 x better than the original speakers though and my next plan is to fit 6" by 9"'s in the rear.

Ahh but don't forget the S3/4 and V8s have larger doors.

If you look at Clappys V8s the third pic shows what looks a bit like a 6x9 in the door ?

Well spotted........they do look like 6" x 9" but are mounted on an angle which looks a little odd!!! This would lead me to believe this is the only way they will fit, in that case 6.52 ones will have to do and replace the back shelf ones with 6x9's!

Nick was it easy enough to cut the door pannels to fit the bigger speakers in it?

Erm.... Er.... It wasn't too bad.
I used one of the existing holes as a starting point and drew round the new speaker mount on the inside of the door panel. I then peeled back the leather/foam backing from the door panel down to line I marked out. Then using a junior hacksaw I cut from the existing speaker hole to the line I had marked out with vertical cuts.

I then used a pair of pliers to snap off the fibreglass segments I had cut. I drilled the 3 remaining fixing holes. Cut away the surplus leather/ foam. Replaced the door panel. Then realised that the speaker wouldn't fit because it overlapped with the inner door skin. So I had to then remove it cut out the overlapping area and replace it all again.

First door took 2 hours, second door took an hour. I guess it would have been quicker still if I had had a jigsaw at the time.
