Couple of quick Classic questions

If you had the opportunity to go the Classic, but were staying about 1:45hrs drive away, what would you do? Is it worth just going for one day (Sat?) see as much as you can, stay into the darkness then call it quits? This would be my preferred option.

Can I get a GE on the gate like the 24hrs? And will this let me see enough?

I could camp on circuit, but this will be part of a much bigger holiday and I don't want to drag my camping stuff out just for that weekend.

I am in a similar position to you, my dad's house is 2 hours south of Le Mans. I will be going for the Sunday, unfortunateky I will be unable to make it to the rest of the event due to the charity event that I am taking part in detailed on the website in my profile.

As I understand it you can buy GE tickets on the gate. I have wanted to go to the Classic for quite a while but this is the first time I have been able to do so.

Yep, you can get tickets on the gate...

Take a rucksack with sleeping bag and crash on the floor when you really can't stay awake any longer.

tickets are never in short supply and can be purchased on the gate but the best part of the classic is the access you can get to the paddocks, make sure you visit all six and look at the cars,talk to the drivers and mechanics also have a look at the displays and stalls very different to the main event

It's well worth it, you'd go to a race meeting for the day in the UK, so why not for France? The race are 45 - 50 minutes in length and you'll get most grids in within the day, particularly if you stay until dark (which is a must).

Go for it, you'll love it.

I always stay 80km from the circuit. Head to the circuit Saturday to arrive at maybe 09:00, and stay there until after the racing. Saturday night I sleep in the car at the circuit. Best to get a GE ticket, a paddock pass, a seat in a tribune, and also a parking pass at one of the car parks close the pits straight, all from ACO direct. Works a treat for me.

Not a cat in hells chance of getting that plan passed by the Wife. She would go for full on proper camping, just.

At both the 24 & the Classic have always done the same - spent the night sleeping in the car. For me part of the atmosphere is to stay up and watch a few hours of night racing. Fall asleep with the cars lapping in the background and radio Le Mans keeping me company.
