Sigma 10-20 vs Tokina 11-16

I have the Tokina and I honestly cannot recommend it enough.
It's absolutely built like a tank, virtually all metal. It reeks of quality when you handle it.
The front of the lens where the filter thread is doesn't move or rotate so it's great for use with directional filters such as a CPL.
It's quick to focus and the push/pull way of engaging and disengaging manual focus is spot on.
As for image quality it's great, really sharp. If I'm doing a landscape of long exposure cityscape I set it to about F8 and images come out pin sharp pretty much.
It's useful for so much, I shoot car shows a lot with it, and also use it for nightclub work where it has also proved invaluable. Suprisingly good for low light funky portraits or group shots!
I bought mine after reading rave reviews and I concur with them.

I've had both though I don't have either now as moved to FF.
The Tokina is head and shoulders the better lens. Sharper, less distortion, flare control, wider aperture, better built etc...
The only things that would persuade me to go for the Sigma is that A) it is much cheaper (assuming you mean the F4-5.6 version?) and a very nice lens for the money and B) It has a more useful range than the Tokina, which can feel a bit too wide sometimes.

I've been contemplating going FF, and don't really want to get rid of my 10-20mm Sigma lens. Apparently some people are using the sigma 10-20mm on a 5D by adding a Kenko 1.4x converter, which although you lose about 1 stop turns it into a 14-28mm lens. Seeing G-W's post above thought I'd share this, in case anyone else is in the same boat.

I made exactly this move, the Sigma is perfectly OK but for 50-60% more £££ the Tokina is head and shoulders above it - and every other WA DX I've used. Going by various reviews, its the best DX WA there is and I've no reason to doubt it - sharpness, contrast, flare resistance, build etc. are all top drawer; f2.8 - although was not my primary reason for purchase - is very useful on occasion. I no longer wonder if my images are going to be compromised in the corners like the Sigma sometimes was (softness even @ f11). 11-16 plenty range for me, I have an 18-200VRII as well (excellent lense up to 120-130mm btw) so I can live without 16-18mm. In summary - do it!

Its the same item.. why pay an extra £130!?
