James Hunt at Brands last night

Went down to Brands last night for a evening track day and to my surprise the first thing i saw was James Hunt in his 76 Mclaren going round Druids sideways quickly followed by Niki Lauda in his Ferrari 
turns out they had been there all day filming for the new Ron Howard film "Rush" i had a good chat with some of the guys there that were looking after a lot of the F1 cars that were in the pits and it turns out that most of them were fake(all the real ones are out in Monaco) built up on Forumla Ford chassis that they just change the metal frame work on to take the differant bodys,they were just changing a March to a lotus when i was there i must admit i really couldnt tell the differance and the Cosworth DFV's in the rear and on full show are actually Rover V8's with DFV plastic covers on them really cool start to the night

I thought the Lauda re-enactment was quite chilling to watch.
We all (well those of us of a "certain age") remember the grainy shots of the actual incident but somehow seeing it replayed in high quality format brought home the severity of the accident and bravery of those who dragged him from the flaming wreckage.

I am old enough to remember the accident when it happened & to have seen the footage when it was originally shown.
That recreation looks superbly done - if those are the correct words to use.
Even though it is only a dummy in the cockpit it is chilling to see the fire take hold even though you know it has been lit deliberately.
I wonder what Lauda thinks of the film? His views will be interesting to hear when the film is finished.
Looks as though the film will be a proper effort & not a cobbled heap of crap like we are used to seeing so full credit to Ron Howard & his crew for taking the time & trouble to do things properly.

The McLaren's plus some of the other replicas, plus some of the real cars are being supplied by the company i work for, attention to detail is very good, it promises to be a great movie.

I hadn't noticed that to be honest - assumed it was a dummy. Even more impressed if they used a stuntman for that shot.The McLaren's plus some of the other replicas, plus some of the real cars are being supplied by the company i work for, attention to detail is very good, it promises to be a great movie.
