Basically as title asks. My driver's side window goes down and up with one touch, but the passenger only goes down. I need to hold the button for it to go back up. I was wondering if this is normal??

They should be one-touch but there are circumstances when they may "forget". There is a method to re-teach them. I had to do something similar with my sunroof the other week so Google is probably the way forward. The usual Pork sites will probably have the answer.

Yeah you normally put the window fully up and hold the button for 3 seconds, but it's not working for me. The one touch works on the way down, leading me to believe that there's maybe something else wrong!?

Some sites are telling me that I need to hold the button for anywhere from 15 to 25 seconds!! I'll need to try holding the button for longer I guess!!!

I queried this on my car but was told the one touch up on the passenger window isn't a feature for safety reasons confused

See, I thought it might have been a safety feature!!! I can live with that easier than the thought that my window is broken!! Lol.

Not sure if it's the same given the series difference, but on my 997 the passenger window is one touch from about halfway up...

Same here with my 997, its also not fully one touch up (I hadn't established its only from about half way up).

What's the safety? So you don't trap the passenger's hand? Doesn't make sense!

Yeah, so you don't trap a hand or a child's head when left unattended I guess!?!? Makes perfect sense to me.

It's maybe the same reason that some saloon cars only have rear windows that go down half way, so that noone falls out of them!!

I'm just convincing myself that my window is not broken!!

No you don't need to convince yourself...mine is the same mate.

But in that case why is the driver's one fully one touch up...what if the passenger presses the driver's one up and traps the driver's hand? That's why it doesn't make sense to me! The buttons are in the middle of the console, so both driver and passenger have access.

I'll try this out on my '02 996 later this afternoon and let you know for certain whether or not your window switch is broken smile

I guess the logic is that you'd have to be pretty simple to roll up the window and trap yourself as the driver, but you could easily roll up the passenger window without paying attention to what/who was in the way.

I guess it's maybe in case you have a child in the passenger seat playing with the window?? They could maybe trap themselves?? The driver is meant to be the "responsible" one!! Lol.

What if the passenger presses the drive one? As per my previous post???

Like I say the window switches are in the middle of the console, so can be accessed by both driver and passenger...

I know what you're saying, I can't get it either! I guess that you would need to be at least 17 years old to be sat in the driver's seat, therefore able to get out of a situation whereby the window is coming up? Or maybe at 17 or older your not as fragile and prone to injury than a kid? I don't know!? Lol.

My window is not broken, my window is not broken, my window is not broken..........
