My Griffith 500 (bought a couple of weeks ago) appears to be losing coolant. Not a lot, about 2 inches in the expansion tank over about 500 miles.

No sign of water spots on the floor, so I'm guessing it's probably escaping as vapour when hot.

Is this normal?

if i keep topping mine up it uses it,
but if i leave it at its own level it won't use a drop.

i know it says run them at a certain level but if i do this it it just uses it!!

My Griff had a tinytinytiny hole in the arse end of the radiator that pissed the finest jet of coolant onto the exhaust when under pressure/hot, which obviously evaporated instantly. It was fine when it was cool...
Though yours might be OK, it seemed to find it's own level when i fixed it. Keep an eye on it.

The actual Level in the tank will settle diffrent in each car, remeber Rads/pipes etc have been changed on quite a few of these cars since new.
Tehy do have a habit of spitting water out and finding there own level, mine is just under half way, if i fill it up to two inches of the top then it just spits it out the lid when up to pressure/temperature.

AS said keep an eye on it until your sure its not moving much.

Remeber to check both swirl pot and expansion tank.
