New(ish) DB9 owner
Discussion
Hello all
I’ve been following for a while and decided to post.
Here’s my DB9, bought late last summer. I suffered the usual budget creep, after realising the early cars aren’t quite so well equipped. This one had everything I needed as standard: cruise, MP3 connection, 700W premium audio, in the ubiquitous tungsten silver and obsidian black leather with light grey stitching. The extras/options fitted were the usual 15 spoke wheels, bright finish grill, auto dimming mirror and front parking sensors. At the back, Magnum rear mesh… looks like plastic… feels like plastic; supposed to be titanium.
It’s early MY08, with not many miles. The interior still smells, as 'old car leather interiors’ do. In fact, on first test drive, the smell immediately evoked a memory for me, as a small boy, sitting in a neighbour’s 70s DBS V8 (William Towns’, four headlight version). I knew I’d have to have an Aston one day.
No problems in the last six months, however the petrol station has now become a ‘special friend’. Funny how you worry about MPG before buying, then once you’re into ownership it’s all forgotten! Anyway; unavoidable reflex-grin, as ever.

Have a look at Tony's knobs though! A very worthwhile upgrade!
Looks like he has got Tony's knobs on already! Great choice with the wood fascia too

Clear rear lights would just finish that off nicely. I was unsure how they would look with Tungsten at first but after seeing Jockman's Tungsten DB9 in the flesh it converted me

is that sill plaque really got a hallmark on it?
Yes it's a silver hallmark. I think the originals are steel, acid etched and mine were particularly faint. Thanks for your comments.Ice27 said:
Welcome. Absolutely beautiful. Still the best colour combination, a true classic!

My heater Knobs are factory, but I'm a great admirer of Tony's knobs, 'though I'm not so sure of the shower proof versionsHave a look at Tony's knobs though! A very worthwhile upgrade!

Thought about clear lenses George, agreed, clears look great, but decided to wait till I'm fed up of looking at the red onesCongratulations on a beautiful car
I'm really liking the rear mesh; didn't think it would look so good on tungsten but it's really smart. I've decided to keep the red rear lights on mine because they match the red calipers so well. But I do have Tony's knobs now and it's a worthwhile change. I think those 15 spoke wheels are the best looking, but they're sure a PITA to keep clean!

Diamond turned 15 spokes also seem to be susceptible to lacquer chipping and corrosion creeping, though a detailer treated mine, to resist brake dust, which definitely kept them cleaner for longer. The mesh was already fitted to my car; it’s a good fix, as the ‘chicken wire’ (as somebody once described it) tends to rust.

looking good.....going to Hever?....
Hello Tony.
Thanks, and yes to Hever. Also planning to go spring concours this weekend, but because of the last minute switch to Waddesdon, there’s no dedicated Aston Martin parking. So if you’re not competing, there’s no guarantee you won’t get parked next to family (door-dinging) people carrier,
so not sure whether to risk it in the DB9. Mr Purple said:
Lovely car , good choice of colour . Were you in Luton last Saturday ?
Thanks, I love the colour too. I should think a lot came out the factory in Tungsten … didn’t want a black interior to start with, too dower and claustrophobic, I thought. But with the Tailors Grey headlining, to my surprise, it felt just as bright and airy as the lighter interiors. Not me Steve in Luton; I’m not allowed in Luton anymore, not since the last time!
