A quyick plee for advice if I may.

Twice now my 159 has started to misfire, in the same circumstances each time.

On the motorway, slight incline, around 70 or just over. Just bumbling along. Suddenly it feels like it's running on 3 cylinders. Massive vibration. First time I thought it was a wheel or driveshaft problem. Almost shakes the tom-tom off it's mount.

No warning lights or messages. The dash display happened to be on current fuel consumption and it dropped from 44mpg(ish) to 23mpg.

Pulled off into the services, switch off for a couple of mins and then it's right as rain when I restart and continue the journey. If anything it feels like it's running smoother. Is the act of turning it off resetting something in the electrics?

It didn't feel like it was going to die on me, but had no power at all.

Most strange. Any ideas oh learned PH ones?

Isn't it just the DPF regeneration?

But would that cause such a lot of vibration?

You should get a period of rough running, a deep bass exhaust note, disastrous fuel consumption and incredibly hot exhaust tips for a couple of minutes and then it should return to normal. Don't switch it off, it needs to complete it's cycle.

It's hard to describe though, so if you think it's something else you might be best having someone look at it.

Do you do lots of short journeys? We had similar problems and eventually sold the car because of this...I think it was because my other half only did local runs which didn't allow the DPF to regenerate often enough.

Bloody stupid things.
