Bridgestone SO2s up for renewal - recommendations?

Front ones nearly used up now - Considering SO3s as I have these on the rear but anyone using Pirellis or Toyos?

I have Pirelli P6000's they seem to be fine, very quite ride.

Bridgstone S02 are great, Toyo are great and S03s are great. Wouldn't touch P6000 with a bargepole on a performance car. Fine for a 318 or A4 though (IMHO).

The local tyre fitter had Pirelli P8s (definately called P8s) on his list and had not heard of Toyos!! Obviously decided Toyos would not be any good though as he suggested he would not even put them on his Mother-in-laws car!!

Just checked on "mytyres" and the price for SO3s is very impressive I must say Anyone know if tyre fitters (in general) will fit customer supplied tyres and how much they charge for just balance and fitting?

Yep, in my experience most tyre fitters are happy to fit tyres you supply, normally around £10 per tyre for fitting & balancing. If you check on My Tyres / black circles they will send to a local outfit & arrange fitting - although I didnt order from them as I got a mega deal from a local tyre place for SO3's so jumped at it. Xpedia were also well priced for mail order.

So, it looks like replacing them with SO3s is the way to go?

Replaced the rear SO2s with SO3s last year with no problems so it does now look like SO3s all round

If you like the SO2 "V" groove patterns, note that the SO3s are entirely different though

Toyo do Chimaera sizes now, I seem to recall an ad in last months Sprint. The T1-S is of course standard fit on the Tuscan, so they ought to be OK.

I think the latest general opinion is to go for ....

for the record, I have just gone from SO2's to Toyos and am in the process of "bedding them ()in"

Further reports once they are ready for action and given a proper work out rather than the M27 commute to work since the Rover is off the road. bloody unreliable these Rovers, use the TVR as my reliable car

Just to add another alternative into the discussion, I run on Goodyear Eagle F1's. the car had them on when I got it an when the rears needed replacing went for the same. I have generally been happy with the performance.

Don't know how side wall stiffness etc compares to Bridgestone S02/S03's though.

I run Goodyear Eagle F1s (ZR rated).

Track at Castle Coombe I ran rings around the Bridgestone shod Chims. Much higher corner speeds - all I've done is new bushes and Avos all around - still on std brakes.

Tyres look hardly worn after 7-hard sessions.

yep, sooner the better the way my week has been too. And with the weather this way its seeming more and more attractive.

Havent caught up with cuzza for a bit mate. I'll drop him a text - is a date set yet?

I went for Bridgestone SO3's .... do the job well and are cheap as chips....
