Can anyone confirm or correct my thinking that the bolts that secure the shock absorbers are 1/2" UNF?

Hi Olly, I think you require 9/16" UNF x 3" in length. The important thing is you get steel bolts with the 3 lines on the head which show high tensile, and dont use stainless whatever you do as they are not up to the job.

Hi Mark,

That's great thanks. I only want to replace the nylocks so just needed to confirm the thread size.

The shock bolts are all 1/2" UNF NOT 9/16

Front top and bottom are 3.5" long, Rear top 4.5" and rear bottom 3.5"

Whoops! Didn't even notice that Mark had put 9/16ths. I'd already had Nitron confirm that it was a 1/2" bore, it was the UNF bit I was looking out for. Peter, did you get my mail on this the other day?

Not to worry Peter, I tried to e-mail you from PH to save starting another thread (on this matter), but most of the questions have now been answered. The only remaing part of that e-mail that I need help with is:

"Also, on the fronts, it looks as though the bottom nut is slightly obscured by the drag link arm as it joins the lower wishbone. Do I need to remove the drag link/arm to remove the lover bolt, or is there a special method to get hold of the nut?"

Regards,
Olly

It can be a bit of a bugger to get a spanner on that one. What I did was wedge a small cold chisel under a flat on the head to jam it against the arm, then spanner the other end of the bolt. You could probably use a large screwdriver or anything with a wedge shaped end. You shouldn't need to pull the drag strut off.
