Seriously do you guys not take the hint...

I have rang up and emailed several companies to take me off the DB list as their stty keyword searches mean I get sent emails asking if I want to apply for jobs with skills I haven't touched for 6 years...

Have how had to block them as no one seems bothered that I don't want them or need them and its a waste of my time.

Best one yet was this morning and this abomination came through:

This company has been told not to cold email several times and ignored every single one of them. Whats worse is they can't even sort out the auto email... want to get me interested in a position, then talk to me in person!!

How do to get them to stop?

Mail shots like that are very effective, we send them a lot. Having said that if you asked them to stop sending you stuff they should do so.

Grr... Had one call me recently. A brief mention of a possible job then, "so who do you work with?".
Change subject.
"So who's in your team then?"
Fake name
"Oh yeah, I know him, talk to him quite a lot"

As you worked out he was 'name gathering'. That's what head hunters do - why does it make you so angry?

Because he wasted my time. Also I'm not comfortable just giving out the names of colleagues to people that call me out of the blue. And the fact that he lied to me.

I'm not one of these "All people in recruitment are bds" people BTW. I know plenty of good ones. Just that one annoyed me.

Maybe cause the recruiter lied to him?

I know a lot of good recruiters, but for every good one there are several who just phish and then lie about jobs that have never existed.

Why is it deemed acceptable to lie in recruiting and no one should take offence as its just their job?

Why not ring up and say that there are no jobs available right now, but they would like to catch up on a persons situation and see how they are finding the job market? That would get 5 mins of someones time.

cold emailing 30-40 people a day in the hope that you might get one reply is moving away from the personal touch that I like about certain businesses.

ringing 10 people in 60-90 mins will get you a better response.

I hope that your emails don't look like that as the first thing I usually do is delete what looks like garbage, in no way is that anything other than a mess of words thinly disguised as one long paragraph.
