Grinding noise?

I have a 56 plate Fiesta Zetec S. When driving above 40 I hear a grinding sort of noise when I lift off the throttle, it's like the noise a drill makes on hammer function but not a loud! Any ideas??

Have you checked disks etc could be warped after been braking?? If not check your tensioner!

Bearing shells? Has it been run with the oil level too low?

Thanks for the reply Lee, the disks were done a few months ago, what's a tensioner?

No oil level always been good.

Your tensioner is yr belt!

Does it happen when you are changing gear? Could be clutch release bearing or possibly drive shaft. You need to get it looked at really.

It makes a whirring/ grinding noise when I come off the throttle from speed, I do need to get it looked at just not sure what needs looking at.

An update on the grinding noise, it was the driveshaft. It's in the garage now, thanks for replys
