Just wondered on your thoughts about repaired elise paint work? I bought an S1 back in feb and the paint work was mint...not a mark (perhaps i should have been bit suspect then!!) over the last few weeks or so, i have noticed a lot of marks in the paint work....i.e along the front, signs of repair can be seen, sanding down and blotches etc. Also, a lot of orange peeling has occured all over the car and paint work is loosing that deep shine. Now when i bought the car....from what i believed to be reputable dealer, paint work was spotless. Is it possible for the paintwork to "settle" if that the right word and show signs of wo?? I surely couldn't of missed all this at time of purchase! DO i have reason to ask them to sort it out??

Unless you have some sort of warranty for the paintwork I doubt very much they will do anything for you.

Sounds as if your car may have been painted "on the cheap." The Elise has GRP panels and as such requires different preparation in terms of the primers used. (I believe - I'm not an expert).

My advise - ask the dealer if they did the paintwork, and if so when. Could consider getting it inspected by a specialist to see exactly what the problem is. If it is clearly sub-standard work, I'd say you may have a case.

Kind of on this subject...

A) Anyone got any recommendations for a good paintshop in Kent who know and do GRP well? Thinking of having a tidy up at the front... doesn't really need it but hey, WTF!

B) Any ideas on roughly how much to do the front and make it chip-free?

Cheers, Tim
