AXA car insurance
Discussion
I see so many threads slating insurance companies that I thought it'd be only fair if I told you about my good experience with one. I have been insured with AXA since July 2011, I got a quote from them through meerkat and they were the cheapest by a good way at the time.
The things I've been impressed with are:
Why can't more insurance companies be like this?
The things I've been impressed with are:
- They give you access to an online account so you can print your certificate of insurance out as you please, I have lost my certificate once before and was charged £20 or £30 by another insurance company to replace it when I needed to tax my car.
- I went over my annual mileage allowance and also started keeping my car in a block of garages along the street, both of which I expected to increase my premium, or at the very least I expected to receive an admin charge for updating my policy. They updated everything for free and allowed me to increase my mileage at any time through my online account.
- Today I cancelled my policy, simply because I have a new car and free insurance was part of the deal. My current policy has been running for 10 months and I expected to lose the NCB from this because I had not completed the full 12 months. They told me that they have given me my full NCB from this year because I was within two months of the policy end date.
Why can't more insurance companies be like this?
That's funny, I had a terrible time with OXO. I was insured with them when my Megane got written off and it was a tremendous ballache to get any money from them - despite the fact that the person who hit me was also insured with them. They initially offered us £2000 less than book value (which was only £5k to begin with...) and it took months of phone calls and branch visits before they offered us anything sensible.
Bit like a lot of insurance companies - you're convinced they're helpful and possibly cheap until you actually *need* them...
