Do a search on PH (if its working, loads on here).

www.porsche968uk.co.uk is an excellent place to start too.

Cambelt history is a must, and especially how long since it was replaced.
48K OR 4 years. Cam sprockets should also be checked at the same time.
Lower front edge of the front wings for rust is another thing, oh and of course equal panel gaps; they are wide to start with, bt should be consistant.

Thanks. Of course, you don't get to read far before the question of 944 v 968 comes up! I did enjoy borrowing a colleague's 944 turbo many years ago. mmm

I think the hartech site has a decent 968 buyers guide, or join 968 uk and read all about them.

I've just bought a 968 after 3 years in a 944 Turbo, both great cars - but in different ways

968Uk is good as is the PCGB forum for both models

968 uk website and jackals website are the only resources you need! Aside from all usual stuff with any car of its age pay particular regard to cam sprocket teeth and walk from a car where the vendor won't let you lift the cover to inspect. Also look for water pump and pulleys and belts. Pinion bearing is oft cted but failure rate I think is quite low. As with a few porsche of similar caliper plate lift can be an arse but needs a good off the ground inspection to diagnose. The hockey stick trim on rear screen can get loose as the fixings tend to break. New hockey stick trims are over 200 each. Not much to go wrong inside but check air con if oit has it. Lcd clocks tend to be broken and seat bolsters can wear. Dash light failures are common as are dodgy fuel senders. The latter is an easy diy fix but dash lights not for the faint hearted. Refreshed bushes and shocks would be good given mileage of most of them. My old cs had the original boge units which were still sound at 60k miles.

All good points, the only thing I would say is it's all relative to buying price.

Ive seen a good 1994 968 Sport sell for £5,000. Of course, it could have been advertised for £8,000 too - some vendors ask what they consider to be a fair price and others try to chisel every last penny, even for an average car.
