A point of interest for RV8 owners regarding 95/99RON.....
Discussion
Well it seems I may have stumbled on something that may be of interest to Chim and Griff owners. It's come to my attention that the factory used to set the cars to 22BTDC at 4k with the vacuum advance off. Now, the generally accepted value is 28BTDC at 4k with advance off. Could it be that the factory set the cars at 22BTDC for 95 octane fuel, and this could be why some cars seem to run fine on 95RON, but others pink when run on it? Just a theory!

It's bad enough using new wishbones and new bolts.. Powder coating is a pain in the ass too. Having to grind and file the pc off, chipping other bits so the bolt will go through and the damper to fit!
One of my old wishbones still has a damper in it and the bolt well and truley seized in the damper bush

Designed? What makes you think it was designed
d designed ( i use that in the loosest form) the damper mount on the chim/griff lower front wishbone...
?I tend to describe it as "A pre-built kit car that was assembled using whatever bits they managed to 'scouse' on the way home from the pub the night before fitted to a chassis knocked up from hacked up scaffolding pole robbed from the nearest building site"...
...but I love her just the same.
