Paul, If you get time a letter to the editorial section of Land Rover owner magazine may be well timed as one of the bloody scamera partnerships has been writing crap in there!!
Pete
Any chance of the details? A scan of the article, or a URL, or even just the editors email address?
If none of that's available, at least tell me the cover date so I can buy the right one!

I've sent this:

Dear John,
I understand from email correspondence from several of your readers that you have an article about speed cameras in the current issue of "Land Rover Owners International".
I don't have a copy of the article so far, and have been unable to find the magazine locally. I would be very pleased to discuss the issues and identify any errors or false assumptions in the article. If you can possibly provide the text, I would be pleased to read the article over and submit any comments.

I hope that they will be interested in talking. I can't really do more until I've seen the article.

Cannot understand why Mr Smith cannot get hold of the August issue of Land Rover Owner International, which is on sale at any decent Newsagent.
The letter of Mr Farr of Devon & Cornwall SCP is on Page 26 and IMHO is totally innocuous. Copyright prevents me from publishing in full but a resume of the points he makes is as follows:
“The slower you travel the less severe an impact should anything untoward occur.
Drivers of 4 x 4 configured for off-roading should drive within the limits of their vehicles and not just to speed limits.
Regarding detectors, like the AA, he is of the opinion it encourages drivers to drive outside the law. New equipment being brought in by HO is entirely passive and so undetectable. Detection/location of devices by detectors will only occur where laser/radar is involved unless supported by a decent GPS system.
It appears the object of his letter, obviously written before HMG announcement of their plans to ban detectors in line with EEC, is to warn not to waste money buying them and thereby drive with a false sense of security without being caught.”
No claims whatsoever on accidents figures, lives saved etc.
Hardly, in my opinion, anything to get exited about.

I went to one shop yesterday evening - note the times on the messages. They didn't have it. Not much choice of shops here in North Scotland after 9pm.
