M3 or B3?

I'm off to look at a few cars this weekend after finally talking the wife into letting me have another toy and have 3 M3s to look at, one very low mile E36 and 2 low mile E46s. Howeve,r I have just seen that Munich Legends have a 1995 B3 manual in at the moment for a very good price and I've always had a hankering for a proper Alpina. I know the 3.0 is underpowered compared to the M3 but in the real world does it make that much difference? From what I understand the Diff and suspension on the B3 is extremely good as are the brakes so I'd imagine chassis wise they are very similar to an E36 M3?

Anyone have experience of both and able to give me a steer on whether the B3 is worth a look?

Sorry, no idea about the B3 but I'm sure ML will have an E46 M3 (and probably an E36) in so you could ask to drive them back to back so you can compare directly.

There is a lot of nonsense on the ad for the B3. Nice car but it's a lot of cash for some leather seats and exclusivity over an M3 and especially an Evo. Drive them and see which you prefer

M3 won hands down, never took out the Alpina, nice enough but not all that!
