Morning guys,

A good friend of mine has a 55 plate 997 C4S with circa 35k miles on the clock.

Last week, he parked up and there was a ticking noise from the engine on idle or something similar.

He immediately had the car towed to Porsche West London - obviously they gave him the scenario of diagnosis being £2kto strip the engine down to inspect and identify to the issue - to the worst case of a new engine - in the region of £13k.

He needs another option. He is based in London and wishes to use a specialist.

I have identified a few specialists such as RSJ, JZM, Parr, Nine Excellence but who would be best suited for this kind of work?

Thanks

The ticking noise could be anything.

Has he been driving it since this noise started?
Is it still under warranty? if so is it an official warranty with Porsche?

As a side note, I would advise him to ring up Hartech and have the car transported to them for a full investigation.

A mate of mine panicked with the same problem - trailer to specialist etc - only for it to be a dodgy fuel pump (which was then sorted under warranty)! smile Oh how we laughed afterwards .....

I can vouch for Nine Excellence as I know they're pretty reasonable when it comes to diagnosis and "dropping the engine out" ....
