My insurance renewal loomed so I decided to shop around for a competetive agreed value policy. the first (Carole Nash) was £385, then came £315 (Heritage) and finally £258 (back to Carole Nash). A saving of £127 per year, or a tank and half of 'V' Power! It was just a matter of three phone calls to get te same cover for a 35% discount. Carole Nash were really easy to deal with (as were Heritage admittedly) no photo's required or reports. Try it.......

How old does a car need to be to qualify for classic car insurance, my two are getting quite long in the tooth now and might qualify!

10 years. I use CVI for the 928, and they appear to be ok but I've never had to claim.

DOOH!! Thought I'd done well!! I have one SP30 and a DVLA Aware medical thingamabob but can't see it making £220 difference! I've done the deed now with Carole Nash but will get a quote from Haggerty, if the difference is significant I'll swallow the cancellation fee and change.

Thanks guys

Hagerty quoted an annual premium of £17.76p, their website on-line quote form is complete bowf and their internet quote ridiculous, I'll phone them tomorrow when her majesty has finished jubilating! Thanks again for all of your help.

Perhaps I'm a glass half empty guy, but I feckin hate this of insurance companies.

Why couldn't Carole Nash quote you the 258 figure to start with? Quite evidently your circumstances haven't changed, and yet after you got a better quote they felt it possible to drop 127 quid (presumably?). I assume they still intend to make a profit even at that price.

Happens all the time on all manner of insurance products. They are either feckless morons or think we all are.

You should have kept calling Heritage and Carole Nash back over the course of the day. By the end of it they'd have been paying you 100 quid and offering to let you sleep with their spouses throughout the year.

I hate the fact that every company tries it on. The halfwits driving around with no insurance are forcing the rest of the law abiding road users to cough up. judge

I called Haggert's and got quoted £242.76 with PCGB club member discount. The £17.67 on-line quote turned out to be a mistake as expected. Unfortunately it means that it's not worth cancelling the Carole-Nash quote at £258.00 for the sake of the Heritage quote as there would be cancellation fee's applied. I would be very suspicious of the quotes mentioned on this thread of under £100.00? If those were quoted on-line I'd be checking that they were pucker unless I had possesion of all the necessary documents.

Thanks to all contributors for your help and advice.
