Had my Chi for about 4 months now and in the last week i've started struggling to get it accross into reverse (on the old rover box).

When in neutral it used to go all the way across and easily up into reverse whereas now, for some reason, i have to push the gear stick to the left whilst going up from second, it then seems to click accross and allow me to get reverse. This seems to be working for now but am slightly worried as to what might be causing this..

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

There's a spherical nylon bush that can wear on the linkage. It'd be my first port of call.

I replaced said nylon bush on my LT77 and documented it Here

Sorry about it being the 'mobile' version. For some reason I can only find it in this format and not the 'full' version.

With any luck a helpful mod might pop along and give you a link to the full version.

If it's anything like the T5 box an oil change often helps.

Oh jesus !!!!!! That does not sound like fun. I think i'm going to try an oil change first as i'm hoping that free's things up. Wouldn prefer to not have to do that but if needs must i think it'd be wise to run it over to the bro-in-law for his assistance. This is my daily runner so i guess if the oil change doesn't work i'll be joining the circlip crew barreti (not that i'm looking forward to that) !!

Thanks for the link !!

Thanks guys.

You are welcome AJ, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be this for your sake wink

I've just reread that thread of mine and saw that it was then I cocked up the reverse gear gate and reverse lights - something I've only just put right in the last couple of weeks. Which shows how time flies and how long you can live with a niggly problem.
