X350 Multiple faults showing.

Just curious really.....
Had a look at a high mileage XJ 4.2 sport today, 155k with jag history up to last service which was independant. It was quite tired, lot of corrosion on bootlid £ paint missing between doors, but nothing i couldn't fix if price was right as it was black on black with sat nav and that V8 :-)
The car had the Air suspension fault light on, presuming it needs a compressor..... This didn't worry me too much as i know its common.
However the following light etc were on; DSC light with DSC not available on speedo, ABS light. Could these be connected?
Also, engine management light was on and the speedo wasn't working?
I discounted the car due to the amounts of faults, but on way home started wondering if it could be all related to a bad battery or earth connection?
It's a 2003 car, which was very cheap at £3200, i'm wondering how much to fix things & if its worth a lowball offer, it's at a VW dealer who has told me basically if i'm not interested its going to auction. Anyone know what sort of money they fetch at auction?

It probably isn't too serious ! (don't quote me) but I've had a 4.2 X350 for a couple of years .... and paid more than £3k for It !!
2 things that spring to mind, these cars are very sensitive to battery voltage, so if the battery is a bit iffy it throw up all sorts of error messages as you describe.
Also there are 3 very crap earth points, which fail/drop off due to the reaction of steel bolts/alloy body. They are next to the from o/s headlight, you need to remove a bit of plastic trim (few plastic screws) to see, but there are 3 bolts with multiple earth points. This is a well documented generator of random fault codes.
The air suspension fault is probably a separate one, mines be intermittently showing for the past 40,000 miles. It seems to be triggered when a weak compressor doesn't get up to the correct pressure within a pre deteramined time frame. Mine alters depending on the ambient temp, whether I have used it earlier in the day. I will stick a compressor on it at some point, they're about £250 for a re-con one now.
If you are in the market, there has been an LPG 3 litre (lots of miles) knocking around on Ebay for about £4k... and look on the Jaguar forum for more info on the above faults .....
If you made a cheeky offer, you could have a bargain ?

Speedo inop and ABS/DSC light on suggest it could just be a wheel speed sensor issue, not very expensive.
The trouble is you just dont know, could turn out to be a wheel bearing or hub fault, or even a wiring issue between the abs ECU and one of the rear wheel speed sensors.
If its really cheap are you have the ability to read to fault codes and diag the fault causes cheaply then I'd say do it, if not, I'd wait. Big petrol engined cars are very undesirable at the moment and as such are very cheap, another will turn up.
put the reg and milage in here, will give you an idea of trade value at auction.

Appreciate the opinions guys, have slept on it and decided that its not worth the risk. I'm keen on an X350 but if i were to get one there's certain options, colour etc that i'd prefer to have.
I've decided to go for a really nice XJR (x308) for sale by a jag specialist i know who is very good. Trouble is i can't get to see it till monday pm, damn it's going to be a long wait
By doing this, i'll have the xjr for a couple of years by which i reckon the prices of x350's will have softened more and hopefully then i can pick and choose what i want rather than rushing to buy a dodgy one just because its cheap.
