Anyone know what's going on with the new B Class? Colleague ordered one in Feb and the initial 6 weeks has been pushed back a couple of times and the dealer is now talking about Sept/Oct! They haven't provided any explanation.

No idea but I've only seen about 5 on the road, I suspect they aren't bringing many over to the UK as its never been a big seller.

I dont know if its related, but in Europe, Mercedes made a big promotion in Oct/Nov will very large discounts and my dealer told me it was much more successful than expected. My C class was ordered 1st Nov and now has a July delivery. I'm told the M and B class (here in Switzerland) are over 1 year delivery so I assume the B class in UK could be affected too.

It's a classic case of too much demand and not enough supply.

The factory haven't given any real reason to the UK dealers, but it's safe to assume that they're supplying the cars to the markets that are making them money; if our currency was stronger I can guarantee we'd be inundated with cars!

Supply is set to improve around sept/oct, but it's still not going to be massive.

Great little cars though, I got one for the OH's mum in March and she's really enjoying it, it's miles better than the old model.

That's a bummer on the M Class - I'm toying with the idea of one of those, although I don't really need the size and we can't get the GLK in the UK. The BMW X3 would be more suitable but I've never been a BMW fan and I somehow (despite their issues) feel comfortable with Mercedes.

I was hoping the low cost lease deals we've seen on other models might start opening up on the ML but I guess that won't happen if the lead-time is long. I just got back from the US and MB is advertising ML350 over there for $450/mth. mad

Thanks for that and the other info. It's being intimated by the dealer that the delays are caused by manufacturing quality issues. Colleague thinks that's bks.

Nice colour combination, did you order many other options?

I had a decent drive in our demo (200cdi) the other night and I think it's a superb bit of kit - night and day between that and the old model!

My brother-in-law ordered one in late January and took delivery for the new registration on 1st March so only about 4-5 weeks wait, although I'm not sure if it was a factory order or a car that was already on order if dealers do such a thing?

It was a 'desirable' spec i.e. not desirable in my opinion but desirable for the current mass market! It was a C180 CGI sport in white with black wheels and rear tints (gangsta...), black leather, auto, nav etc.

One thing I do really like about it is he got the pano roof, and it appears really bright and spacious inside.

I do know when he ordered supply was next to nothing, as at that time Stratstone Glasgow didn't even have a demo and couldn't get him a drive in one.

Great first car, should be easy enough to drive and a camera to help her park!
