Hello,
Hear a lot about intake trumpets being changed, the smooth bore induction kit, turbos, superchargers and mega squirt etc.
Has anyone had their heads ported etc, like Stage 1 or Stage 3 heads ?
Stage 2 Wildcat heads on a 5ltr are claimed to flow 150cfm compared to 105cfm on a standard Rover head and can help to achieve just under 450bhp (presumably with other tweaks n mods).

Cheers.

What about RPi's staged heads, anyone used those ?
Presume the non-road compatability comes because they're flowing so much that the idle is crap due to poor mix or something ?

There is a company that builds engine mainly for the 4x4 market, who have an engine dyno and have a page on their website showing the results of different Rover V8 engine builds including one with Stage 1 Wildcat heads.
The company in question is ACR = Automotive Component Remanufacturing Ltd.
Might make for interesting read.

Not heard of stage 5 ! and who decides what spec each stage is ?or is it guess work .

This is why Peter Burgess does not stage his heads !

Peter is one of the leading head workers in the UK.

There is no definition of what constitutes a "stage" beyond that determined by the person doing the work as being an appropriate place to stop before moving onto the next level of modification...

Mine are at the "Mrs Worthington" stage...

There should be a bench mark like xxxcfm at xxxvalve lift

Defined and "policed" by who? Without some kind of official standard then any notional "staging" isn't worth teh paper it is no longer written on. biggrin

Yes but you could compare two different stage 4 heads and both could be completly different ..

Surely there should be a standardised head spec.!

How? What's applicable (in the way of tuning processes) to one head might not be applicable to a different head...
