looking for some advice. im having a couple of problems with my drivers door acting spooky!

a couple of weeks ago i was caught in a very heavy thunderstorm. since then, with increasing frequency, the door randomly decides not to engage - all electrics seem to be disabled: the door release and window switches produce no response at all. the door mirror seems to work fine.

ive had a couple of dealers look at it, and theyve fidled with the microswitch after which it seems fine. today on the way home, whilst driving, the drivers door opened completely!!

any ideas as to the problem/solution? i would have thought if it was a dampness related issue, it would have dried out by now.

Was this an issue on early cars - later cars had some modification done?

(Or am I talking b0ll0£s again as usual?)

There was two problems on this on very early cars with the door release button incorporated into the window up/down knob.

1. A software fault whereby the door button was not supposed to work if the car was moving. Sometimes it did on a few cars and was generally fixed by an upgrade of putting the new switches either side of the radio pod.

2. Secondly and this applies to all Tuscans made, is the emergency door release handle cables can sometimes be too tight or the handle is not properly pushed back in. So when driving and the body of the car flexes slightly it would pop the door open.

Good luck

whitey - thanks as ever for the excellent advice - it really helps put ones mind to rest in the belief that its not a random unidentifiable fault!

had it seen to today, apparently the emergency cable didnt have any slack in it, so perhaps that indeed was the problem. of course on the way to gatwick tvr (who ive been extremely impressed with) it was behaving itself perfectly.

driving fine so far, so it looks like problem solved (was a 2 min job). any changes - ill post up!

update:

no damn difference whatsoever. it seems this is another tvr spook, disappearing whenever your near a dealer, and reappearing whenever youre near a policeman.

moving toewards becoming another exacerbated owner....
